Everybody Hates Chris (2005) is a comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. Brooklyn, early 1980s: thirteen-year-old Chris is the oldest of three kids in a working-class Black family, bused two hours each way to an almost all-white middle school where he's the odd one out.

Comedian Chris Rock narrates every scene from off-screen, because the show is built straight out of his own childhood. At home, mother Rochelle (Tichina Arnold) stretches every dollar and rules the house, while father Julius (Terry Crews) juggles several jobs and can tell you the exact price of anything you waste. At school, Chris (Tyler James Williams) dodges a bully and fights to keep his footing; back home he rides herd on sharp-tongued Tonya and scheming Drew.

Created by Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi, the series picked up Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for its writing and its sharp portrait of a poor neighborhood.
