About

Synopsis

Murder Ahoy (1964) is a British comedy-mystery you can watch online on iFILM. Miss Marple joins the board of trustees of a training ship for wayward boys, and at her very first meeting one of the other trustees keels over dead before he can finish what he came to say.

The police call it natural causes. Marple calls it poison — and she's right. Since the dead man had just returned from inspecting the ship, the sharp-eyed spinster invites herself aboard to dig around. What follows is a string of questionings below deck, a few more bodies, and a finale that ends with the elderly sleuth crossing swords for real. Margaret Rutherford leads, with Lionel Jeffries and Stringer Davis alongside.

This is the fourth and final entry in the Rutherford-led Marple run, directed by George Pollock. The plot was written straight for the screen rather than lifted from an Agatha Christie novel, which gives it a looser, more playful streak than the books. At 89 black-and-white minutes, it's an easy watch for fans of cozy old-school English detective fare. Stream Murder Ahoy (1964) online on iFILM.
