Synopsis
5 to 7 (2014) is an American romantic comedy-drama written and directed by Victor Levin, available to watch online on iFILM. Anton Yelchin plays Brian, a young New York writer burning through rejection letters until a chance encounter in the rain stops everything.
The woman is Arielle — a poised French diplomat's wife played by Bérénice Marlohe. She lays out the terms plainly: they can meet from five in the afternoon to seven, and that is the arrangement. Her husband, played by Lambert Wilson, knows and consents — different culture, different rules. Brian agrees, certain he can keep his feelings compartmentalized. He cannot. The film also gives Frank Langella and Glenn Close small roles that carry surprising weight as Brian's old-school parents who have made their own compromises in love.
What makes 5 to 7 land is how seriously it treats an affair that could so easily be played as farce — the two-hour window becomes a container for something real, and that tension between limits and longing is the whole film. Stream 5 to 7 (2014) online on iFILM.
