Ellen was a successful musician until a late-night attack took her sight. She retreats to a new apartment, adjusts to the darkness, and tries to map the world by sound. Her brother arranged the place; a caretaker checks in. Both seem dependable. But the feeling that someone is still close — watching, waiting — refuses to go away, and no one believes her.

The film's trick is that the audience is as blind as Ellen: perception becomes the plot. Karl keeps the apartment tight and the paranoia building from small wrongnesses rather than jump scares.
