Synopsis

A bellhop named Ward Guisenberry (Wayne Morris) knocks out a promoted heavyweight at a party and catches the eye of fight promoter Nick Donati (Robinson), who decides to build the kid into a contender. It goes well until Nick's sheltered sister Marie falls for the fighter, his girlfriend Fluff (Davis) is visibly drawn to him too, and rival promoter Turkey Morgan (Bogart) starts looking for an opening to turn the whole arrangement into a trap.
Curtiz keeps all three of the older players morally off-balance — none of them entirely wrong, none of them clean — which gives the film more texture than a straight boxing picture usually bothers with. Watch Kid Galahad (1937) online on iFILM.
