Начало — почти бытовое: Лео после приговора за вождение в пьяном виде отправляют на общественные работы в неблагополучный квартал, где никто не хочет говорить и зацепок нет. Дальше масштаб растёт. Женщина со срезанным лицом выводит Гарри на русского олигарха и убитого журналиста; вооружённый рейд на предполагаемую террористическую ячейку оборачивается гибелью полицейского, и Никки встречает глухую враждебность коллег. Серия убийств в хасидской общине заставляет Гарри искать убийцу среди своих. Под конец — пропавшие дети, проверка на верность бывшему наставнику и финал в Замбии, где гибнет британская студентка-медик, а Никки сталкивается с местной полицией.
