So he drives south into Juárez, chasing a rumor of an organ black market. Dermot Mulroney plays a decent man unbuilding himself one decision at a time, while Diane Kruger, as his wife, holds vigil at their child's bedside back home. Each contact in the Mexican underworld is dirtier than the last, and somewhere down that road he has to decide whose life he'll trade for his own daughter's.

Director Baltasar Kormákur keeps the pressure on the moral trap rather than the gunplay, though there's plenty of action too. Sam Shepard lends gravity in a small supporting turn.
