Synopsis
Date A Live (2013), Season 1 is the rom-com sci-fi anime you can watch online on iFILM — twelve episodes built on a gloriously silly premise. To stop the spacequakes wrecking the world, high schooler Shido has to make the Spirits causing them fall for him, then kiss them.
The first season introduces that bizarre rulebook one girl at a time. It opens with Princess — Tohka — whom Shido pulls out of a quake's ground zero while his classmate Origami watches from the AST strike team. Then his sister Kotori turns out to command the airship Fraxinus for the organization Ratatoskr, and the "dates" become missions that can go wrong fast. Midway the cast grows: shy Yoshino and her hand puppet, and the far more dangerous Kurumi, known as Nightmare. The closing episodes finally crack open the truth about Shido's and Kotori's own powers.
Adapted from Koushi Tachibana's light novels by studio AIC Plus+, the show leans hard on harem tropes but plays its hook honestly — each girl is a separate threat and a separate story, not just another name on the roster. Shido Itsuka is an ordinary high school student living with his little sister in Tengu City, a city that is often disrupted by "spatial quakes". During a spatial quake at the beginning of the school year, he meets a beautiful and mysterious "Spirit".
