Synopsis
Manhunt (2017), Season 1 — also titled Manhunt: Unabomber — is a true-crime drama you can watch online on iFILM, eight episodes built around the FBI's long chase after the man who mailed homemade bombs for nearly twenty years.
Agent Jim "Fitz" Fitzgerald joins the task force in 1995 carrying a method nobody trusts: catch the bomber by how he writes. While the rest of the unit hunts fingerprints and witnesses, Fitz takes the terrorist's manifesto apart word by word and starts seeing a person inside the prose. The season runs on two timelines — the mid-nineties pursuit and a 1997 interrogation room where a now-captured Ted Kaczynski threatens to get every piece of evidence thrown out. The closer it gets to the end, the harder it is to tell hunter from quarry.
Paul Bettany plays Kaczynski as a man with a conviction rather than a cartoon lunatic, which makes him worse. This is a crime story that leans on linguistics and psychology instead of shootouts — rare for the genre. Stream Manhunt Season 1 online on iFILM.
