Harrison Bergeron
Welcome to the future. It's a no-brainer.
Synopsis
Harrison Bergeron (1995) is a Showtime TV film you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from Kurt Vonnegut's short story by Canadian director Bruce Pittman. It is 2053: after the Second American Revolution, a government implant brings every citizen's intellect to exactly the same level. Equality, enforced at the neurological layer.
Harrison was born too smart for the device to hold. When the state moves to correct that, he ends up inside the machinery itself — sitting across from the men who designed it, played by Christopher Plummer and Eugene Levy. Sean Astin carries the lead; a young Hayden Christensen appears in a smaller part. Vonnegut's satire gets a quiet, unhurried adaptation that trusts the premise to do the work.
