My Name Is Bruce

My Name Is Bruce (2007) is a horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Bruce Campbell — the cult star of the Evil Dead series — directed the film himself and plays a version of himself: a washed-up, self-absorbed B-movie actor living in a trailer, in the middle of a messy career slump.

When a group of fans in a small Oregon town accidentally unleash a real Chinese war deity, they do the only logical thing: kidnap Bruce Campbell and expect him to handle it. The joke, and the entire engine of the film, is that the man who played Ash onscreen is nothing like Ash in person. Campbell leans hard into the self-parody, Ted Raimi shows up in multiple roles, and the whole thing makes no pretence of being anything other than cheerful, low-budget nonsense made by someone who genuinely loves the genre.
