Synopsis
Brimstone (2016) is a Western thriller written and directed by Dutch filmmaker Martin Koolhoven — watch online on iFILM. Dakota Fanning plays Liz, a mute midwife in a frontier settlement who becomes the target of a relentless preacher played by Guy Pearce. He arrives quoting scripture and smiling. Neither is a good sign.
The film unfolds across four chapters that move non-chronologically, gradually revealing what Liz is running from and why the preacher considers his pursuit righteous. Kit Harington appears in a separate storyline that converges with hers. At 148 minutes, Brimstone is unhurried and unsparing — violence here lands with the weight of inevitability, not spectacle.
