Synopsis

Martha turns up at the lakeside Connecticut home of her older sister Lucy and Lucy's husband, Ted. Outside there's calm water and quiet weekends. Inside her head are two years under a charismatic group leader, played with chilling restraint by John Hawkes. The past keeps breaking in. Memories arrive as flashes, and she can no longer tell whether someone is really following her or fear is doing the work. She can't bring herself to tell her sister what happened.
Sean Durkin's feature debut won him the directing prize at Sundance and announced Olsen as a major new presence. The camera keeps its distance, the editing folds "then" into "now," and you lose your footing exactly as Martha does.
