Izzy Morales has invented a cryptocurrency, GenCoin, and not a single investor will touch it. Banker Nick Talman launders his father's money, and those dirty millions become the startup's seed funding. The third partner is Ronald Dacey, a Haitian gang enforcer out of Little Haiti who wants a legitimate front. Hanging over all of them is FBI agent Phil Rask, corrupt and dangerous and sure he is the good guy. The closer the trio gets to real money, the less the business plan matters and the more staying alive does — kidnappings, blackmail, a hostile takeover, and an investor whose ties stink.
Call it the American dream turned inside out, or organized crime 2.0, as the show itself puts it. Martin Freeman as the slippery agent and the raw edge of this Crackle original make the first season meaner than a story about tech founders has any right to be.
