Synopsis
Shrew's Nest (Musarañas, 2014) is a Spanish psychological horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Directors Juanfer Andrés and Esteban Roel set the story in 1950s Madrid — a city still under Franco's regime, where poverty and fear keep people quiet and indoors.
Montse hasn't left her apartment in years. Severe agoraphobia has made those four walls her entire world, and the only person she allows close is her younger sister, whom she raised alone after their parents were gone. Then a reckless neighbor named Carlos falls down the stairwell and drags himself to their door, injured and unable to leave. Montse takes him in. She tends to his wounds. Macarena Gómez plays this with controlled menace — generous and attentive and quietly wrong in a way that takes a while to fully land. Hugo Silva and Nadia de Santiago complete the three-person trap the film builds around itself.
What makes it work is restraint. No external monster, no long hallways. The danger is entirely interior — inside the apartment, inside Montse's history, inside the obsession she's built her life around. Watch Shrew's Nest online on iFILM.
