Dracula arrives in Victorian London wearing the name of an American industrialist. His stated mission: introducing electrical power to a gas-lit city — convenient cover for a creature allergic to daylight. His real purpose is revenge against the Order of the Dragon, the ancient secret society that cursed him centuries ago. The plan holds together until he spots Mina Murray at a social gathering and becomes convinced she's his long-dead wife reborn.
The show takes Bram Stoker's source material and reframes it around a vampire with a vendetta and a love story instead of a simple monster-hunt. Rhys Meyers brings real menace to the role, and the period production design is a cut above the budget.
