Synopsis
A Horrible Way to Die (2010) is Adam Wingard's horror-thriller, and you can watch online on iFILM. Sarah drinks to forget and is trying to rebuild in a small town. At an AA meeting she meets Kevin, soft-spoken and patient with her.
What Sarah keeps to herself is the reason for all that silence. Her ex, Garrick, is a serial killer she turned in to the police herself. Now he has slipped his custody and is working his way toward her, one body at a time. The film tells it out of order, cutting between Sarah's fragile present and Garrick's drive across the country, so the audience pieces the danger together before she ever senses it. Amy Seimetz and AJ Bowen play it quiet, almost in a whisper, which only sharpens the dread.
This is early Wingard, years before You're Next and Godzilla vs. Kong, shot on a shoestring in a mumblecore key: handheld camera, soft focus, zero gloss. Don't expect a chase-heavy slasher; it's a cold psychological portrait that rewards anyone who prizes tension and uneasy silence over buckets of blood.
