Synopsis
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage (2023) is the stand-up special you can watch online on iFILM — and it made history as Netflix's first-ever live global broadcast, sent out from a Baltimore theater with no edits and no second takes.
For just over an hour Rock works through "non-racist" yoga pants, the hazards of spoiling your own kids, the Kardashian machine, and the performative anger that gives the set its title. Then he holds back the real reason most people tuned in until the very end: a long, unfiltered reply to the Will Smith Oscars slap from the year before. Joel Gallen directed.
Rock measures out timing and real venom in equal parts, and the closing stretch is the sharpest he's been in years — less warm-up, more public settling of scores. Stream Chris Rock: Selective Outrage (2023) online on iFILM.
