And the neighbor Ángel, hopelessly stuck on Julia, watches through binoculars and will stoop to anything. The aliens stay somewhere up above; down here the question is smaller and meaner — who lied to whom.

Vigalondo, who made the time-loop puzzle Timecrimes, stages an invasion with barely any effects: the spectacle stays off-screen while a ridiculous love quadrangle takes center stage.
