Alex is gentle, indecisive and nobody's idea of a leading man. When his girlfriend Caroline dumps him for a slick rival, he sets out to work out what actually makes a man a man. His old friend Nelly is along for the whole ride, and the closer she gets, the less sure Alex is about who he's really been in love with.
