Synopsis
Assassination (1987) is the Charles Bronson action thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Secret Service agent Jay Killon is hoping for a serious posting and instead gets handed the First Lady — a woman who wants no guard at all and bolts the moment he turns his back.
At first it plays as a clash of wills: she acts up, he silently puts up with it. Then people around her start dying one after another, and it becomes clear someone is hunting her on purpose. Killon has to drag his uncooperative charge out of traps across the country while figuring out who ordered the hits and who inside the White House can be trusted. Bronson's co-star is Jill Ireland, his real-life wife and frequent screen partner.
The film was directed by Peter Hunt, who once made the Bond entry On Her Majesty's Secret Service, so the chases and shootouts are put together with real craft. This is classic late-period Bronson from Cannon: a grim man of few words, a lean plot, action over everything. If you like no-frills eighties action, it delivers exactly what you'd expect.
