Synopsis
System Crasher (Systemsprenger, 2019) is a German drama by director Nora Fingscheidt — stream it online on iFILM. Nine-year-old Benni has been bounced from placement to placement until child welfare coined a term for kids like her: system crashers. Every foster home, every care facility sends her back. She doesn't care. She has one fixed point: her mother, who is terrified of her own daughter.
When anger-management trainer Micha, played by Albrecht Schuch, is brought in as a last resort, he gets closer than anyone has before. Helena Zengel carries the film with a performance that defies the usual logic of child acting — raw, uncontained, impossible to look away from. The script never reaches for easy sympathy or easy blame.
