You're the Worst (Seasons 1–5)

You're the Worst (2014) is an FXX comedy-drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Creator Stephen Falk built five seasons around a simple premise: two people who actively despise the idea of relationships end up in one anyway. The tagline — "terrible people, perfect for each other" — is accurate, but the show goes further than a punchline.

Jimmy Shive-Overly is a self-sabotaging British novelist with more contempt than royalties. Gretchen Cutler is a music publicist who has structured her entire life around avoiding vulnerability. Chris Geere and Aya Cash play them without making either character likeable on cue, which is what keeps the whole thing from sliding into formula. The supporting cast — Desmin Borges and Kether Donohue as their equally chaotic best friends — are nearly as good.
