Synopsis

Touring looks different from the inside. Midge rebuilds her act for Las Vegas, for Miami, for a crowd of soldiers at a USO show, and finds that what lands at the Gaslight does not automatically land everywhere else. Susie manages two clients at once: Midge on the bus and Sophie Lennon angling for Broadway, both needing attention at the same wrong moment. Back in New York, Joel readies his own club for opening night, Abe gets a piece published in The New York Times and drifts deeper into beatnik circles, and Rose turns out to have skills nobody expected. The season closes at the Apollo — and the lesson waiting for Midge there is the kind the industry hands out only once.
