Twins Jared and Simon and their sister Mallory find their great-great-uncle Arthur Spiderwick's field guide — a handwritten catalogue of faeries, brownies, and other creatures their ancestor spent a lifetime documenting. Those creatures know the book has been opened. Some want it retrieved; others want it destroyed along with anyone who touched it. Jack Dylan Grazer plays Jared, the impulsive twin who reads it first. Joy Bryant and Christian Slater round out the cast.

Directed across episodes by Kat Coiro and a team of six others, the series gives the source material room the 2008 film couldn't afford — including the darker turns the books saved for their final volumes.
