The Lost World (Seasons 1–3)

The Lost World (1999) is an adventure series you can watch online on iFILM. In the early 1900s an expedition sets out to prove the impossible: that somewhere deep in the Amazon, a prehistoric world has survived. Their balloon goes down, and a handful of travellers find themselves stranded on a plateau with no way back.

It's a mismatched group. There's the hot-tempered Professor Challenger, his scientific rival Summerlee, big-game hunter Lord Roxton, the secretive heiress Marguerite Krux, and young reporter Ned Malone. Waiting on the plateau is Veronica, a woman raised in the jungle who reads the land better than any of them. Dinosaurs, warring tribes, ape-men and the traps of forgotten civilisations make survival harder than the long search for a route home.

The show loosely reworks Arthur Conan Doyle's novel and, across three seasons, stretches the classic tale into a long wander through a wild world. Shot in Australia and New Zealand, it keeps the straight-faced spirit of old Saturday-matinee serials. Good for anyone missing adventure without irony or postmodern winks.
