Synopsis
The History of Love (2016) is a drama you can watch online on iFILM. It turns on a single manuscript — written long ago by a young Polish Jew for the girl he loved — that resurfaces decades later and quietly ties strangers together across continents and years.
In present-day New York, old Leo lives out his last chapters still hoping to find the son he barely knows. Across the city, teenage Alma digs through the past trying to pull her widowed mother out of her grief. The thread between them is that lost book, which survived war, exile and a string of other hands. Derek Jacobi, Sophie Nélisse, Gemma Arterton and Elliott Gould lead the ensemble.
Romanian director Radu Mihăileanu adapts Nicole Krauss's novel, reshaping its time-hopping structure into a tender meditation on memory and loss. If you like slow, bookish dramas it rewards the patience; if you want pace, it will feel unhurried. Stream The History of Love online on iFILM.
