Hotaru Hinase has a full life — close friends, a warm family — and has simply never had much use for romantic love. Her classmate Hananoi is the opposite: handsome, intense, and already known at school for loving people at full emotional capacity.

On a cold winter day Hotaru does something small and kind, and Hananoi falls hard. He asks her out; she says yes, more out of curiosity than feeling.
