Synopsis
The Decameron (2024) is a pitch-black Netflix comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Plague is tearing through Florence in 1348, so a handful of nobles and their servants flee to a countryside villa to wait it out.
The plan is wine, feasts and zero contact with the sick. It falls apart fast. Locked behind the villa walls, the guests turn on each other — class lines dissolve, old grudges surface, and lust, greed and vanity prove far more contagious than any disease. The lord of the house doesn't even survive the first dinner, which leaves his nervous noblewoman, her sharp-eyed maid and a doctor with no real training to sort out the chaos.
Loosely spun off from Giovanni Boccaccio's 14th-century story collection, the show swaps medieval morals for farce and social satire. The ensemble includes Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet, Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Tanya Reynolds. Good pick if you like costume comedies that are funny and deeply uncomfortable at the same time.
