About

Synopsis

Freedomland (2006) is an American crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Samuel L. Jackson plays Lorenzo Council, a detective called to the ER where a woman with slashed hands — played by Julianne Moore — claims her son was left in a stolen car. The alleged carjacker, she says, was Black.

That single accusation is enough to lock down an entire public housing complex, send tensions to a breaking point, and put Council between the community he grew up in and the department he works for. Edie Falco joins as an activist specializing in missing-children cases, pulling the investigation in another direction. The boy may not be where anyone is looking.

Director Joe Roth adapted the film from Richard Price's novel, with Price writing the screenplay himself. At its core this is a film about the damage one lie can do — not a whodunit but a study in race, guilt, and institutional pressure. Stream Freedomland (2006) online on iFILM.
