Synopsis

Doug Cheswick has done his rotation guarding Tess Carlisle and wants out — badly. She's demanding, unpredictable, and seems to treat his detail as her personal entertainment. The current president personally insists Doug go back for another tour. What starts as a battle of wills between two stubborn people shifts when Tess is kidnapped and Doug has to switch from enduring her to actually finding her.
MacLaine plays Tess without softening the edges — she is genuinely infuriating — which makes the film's quieter moments land. Cage handles the slapstick and the thriller beats in the same breath, and the chemistry between the two leads is what makes this mid-nineties oddity worth revisiting.
