Synopsis

Robin of Sherwood (1984), Season 1 is the British adventure series you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes that reinvent the Robin Hood legend with pagan magic. This is where the outlaw of Loxley is first marked by the spirit of the forest.

It opens in chains: Robin is thrown into Nottingham's dungeon for killing one of the King's deer, and there he falls in with the band that becomes his own. Herne the Hunter names him a successor, and with that come a silver arrow, a sorcerer, and old prophecies. From there the Sheriff and Abbot Hugo put villagers on trial for witchcraft, Templars back from Acre cross Sherwood, and a minstrel called Alan a Dale joins the cause. The run closes as a wandering knight makes Robin an offer that could change all their lives.

Michael Praed plays this version's first Robin, and the band Clannad gives the show its haunting Celtic score. This 1984 season is the one that folded folklore and folk music into the old tale, setting it apart from other retellings. Stream Robin of Sherwood Season 1 online on iFILM.
