Synopsis

Found alone in the woods, Nell is placed in a New Orleans home for girls and put under the care of counselor Frank Merle. She tries to assemble an ordinary life: new friends, a first job, a crush on a local boy. The dread here builds slowly rather than jumping out at you. The demon creeps back through small things first — a voice, a touch, a face in a window that should not be there — and what it wants this time goes well beyond her body.
Ashley Bell returns as Nell and carries the whole film in tight close-ups of a frightened, unraveling face, with almost no flashy effects. A young Julia Garner, later the breakout of Ozark, turns up in a small role. This is a quiet, slow-burn possession story for viewers who prefer mounting unease to cheap shocks.
