Synopsis
Animaniacs (2020), Season 1 is the reboot you can watch online on iFILM — 42 bite-sized episodes that bring Yakko, Wakko and Dot back to the Warner Bros. lot 22 years later.
The world moved on; the Warners did not. They poke at memes, smartphones and Hollywood's reboot habit while skewering everything in reach — the 2020 election, women's suffrage, and a French Revolution the trio kicks off by accident while hunting for lunch. Pinky and the Brain split the runtime, chasing world domination by way of a dragon, a time machine, an NSA break-in and a run at the office of First Lady. Parody is the engine here: Jurassic Park, Poltergeist, even an unauthorized Russian knock-off of the show itself. Each segment is a couple of minutes of gags, a song, and a jab at some self-important authority figure.
Warner Bros. and Amblin brought back the original voices — Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille. The satire bites harder and more topically than the '90s run, though the trademark chaos is intact.
