Extraordinary (Seasons 1–2)

Extraordinary (2023) is a British superhero comedy series created by Emma Moran for Disney+, available to watch online on iFILM. The premise is tight: in this version of the world, everyone receives a superpower on their 18th birthday. Jen is 25 and still waiting. Mairéad Tyers plays her with a specific kind of low-level exasperation — not defeated, just perpetually behind everyone else in ways she refuses to accept.

She lives with her best friend Carrie, who can channel the spirits of the recently dead (useful at parties, disruptive everywhere else), and their flatmate Jizzlord — a man who turns out to have a complicated history with his own power. Jen's boyfriend Kash can rewind time by a few seconds, which he mostly uses badly. At work, superpowers are treated as professional qualifications, which means Jen is competing for jobs against people whose CVs include things she can't match. The comedy comes from treating that as an ordinary workplace grievance.

Two seasons aired by mid-2024. The show sits closer to Fleabag territory than to anything with a multiverse: the superpowers are the setting, not the point. The point is Jen figuring out who she is before she gets whatever power the universe has decided is hers. Stream Extraordinary online on iFILM.
