Synopsis

It's the mid-1980s in Leicestershire. Jeffreys is working out how to pull a unique biological signature from a DNA sample — what he'll call genetic fingerprinting. Across the county, Baker is stuck: a double murder, no physical match, and a community that's frightened. The series runs both tracks in parallel until they converge in a criminal court — the first conviction in history built on DNA evidence.
