Synopsis
Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend (2015), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. It's a Japanese romantic comedy about otaku, 12 episodes, and the whole thing starts when one guy decides to build the perfect dating-sim heroine.
Tomoya Aki catches a girl's hat in the spring wind, and in that single frame the dream of making his own visual novel clicks into place. The girl turns out to be Megumi Kato — a quiet classmate nobody ever notices. So he picks her as his lead. From there the season is about assembling a doujin circle: he talks artist Eriri and elite writer Utaha into working for free, Comiket deadlines bear down, and Megumi gamely tries to learn how a "proper heroine" behaves from his lectures. The stakes stay small and personal — jealousy, old grudges, who underestimated whom.
The show comes from A-1 Pictures, adapting Fumiaki Maruto's light novels. It's sharpest when it's poking fun at otaku and the game industry itself. A good pick if you like romcoms set around creative teams and chemistry that warms up slowly. Stream Saekano Season 1 online on iFILM.
