Moonlighting (1985), Season 5 is the comedy-detective send-off you can watch online on iFILM — thirteen episodes that close the book on Maddie Hayes, David Addison and their Blue Moon agency.
The mood shifts right away. Maddie is expecting, and the opener hands the unborn baby a tongue-in-cheek briefing on the parents who never stop bickering. After that the cases pile up: a fired employee shoots the boss who sabotaged her, a dying burglar wants the pair to prove a decades-old perfect crime, a client drops dead in their office before they can even shake hands. Maddie's cousin Annie walks in, and the long pull between the two leads gets pushed harder than any earlier year dared. Bert and Agnes, meanwhile, head toward a wedding of their own.
Creator Glenn Gordon Caron lets the show end on its own terms. This final run plays darker and sadder than the giddy early seasons, the famous rapid-fire banter still crackles, and the last episode actually says goodbye to the agency.
