Synopsis
Operation Chromite (인천상륙작전, 2016) is a South Korean war action film — watch it online on iFILM. Liam Neeson plays General Douglas MacArthur, who in the summer of 1950 is looking at a Korean Peninsula where North Korean forces hold nearly everything south of the border except a shrinking perimeter around Busan. His answer is an amphibious assault directly behind enemy lines at Incheon — odds of success, by his own admission, around one in five thousand.
Before any soldier hits the beach, eight South Korean intelligence officers go in first under cover. Led by Lieutenant Commander Jang Hak-soo (Lee Jung-jae), the unit needs to map minefields and coastal defenses without blowing their cover to a North Korean counterintelligence unit already hunting for spies. The clock and the tide timetable are both running.
Director Lee Jae-han splits the film between two registers: tight, close-quarters tension in the spy strand and wide-frame naval spectacle once the fleet moves. Neeson has less screen time than the Korean leads but his scenes carry the strategic weight of the whole operation. Stream Operation Chromite (2016) on iFILM.
