Darkwing Duck (Seasons 1–3)

Darkwing Duck (1991) is a Disney animated series you can watch online on iFILM. By day, Drake Mallard is an unremarkable suburban dad raising his adopted daughter Gosalyn next door to the cheerfully oblivious Muddlefoot family. By night, he puts on a purple cape and mask and becomes the city of St. Canard's self-appointed protector.

The joke is that he's not very good at it — or rather, he's very good at the dramatic entrance and the flourishing monologue, and considerably less good at the part where things go according to plan. His sidekick Launchpad McQuack, borrowed from DuckTales, shares his enthusiasm and matches him in incompetence. Their rogues' gallery includes Megavolt, Quackerjack and Negaduck, all of whom regularly make Darkwing look worse than he already does.

Jim Cummings voiced the character throughout the run, giving him the precise pitch of someone who genuinely believes he's legendary. The show spun off from DuckTales but quickly built its own identity. Stream every episode of Darkwing Duck online on iFILM.
