Synopsis
The Slap (La Gifle, 1974) is a French-Italian comedy-drama from Claude Pinoteau that you can watch online on iFILM. Everything collapses at once for geography teacher Jean Doulean: trouble at work, a lover walking out, and a rebellious daughter.
His eighteen-year-old daughter Isabelle is quitting school to move in with her boyfriend, and the slap he lands on her in a flash of temper kicks off a full battle of wills between them. Lino Ventura plays the tired, short-fused but loving father; Annie Girardot is the woman trying to pull him back to himself. The daughter is played by a young Isabelle Adjani in her breakout role, a year before international cinema came calling.
