Synopsis
Physical (2021) is an Apple TV+ dramedy you can watch online on iFILM. San Diego, the early 1980s. Sheila Rubin looks like a put-together housewife, but a brutal inner voice never lets up.
On the surface there's a smile and a perfect dinner; underneath, an eating disorder and a stream of self-loathing the show pipes straight into your ears as voiceover. Then Sheila stumbles into an aerobics class, and workout videotapes become her escape route — from other people's expectations, from a marriage to a perpetually campaigning husband, from her own head. Rose Byrne plays it without pity: Sheila is charming and impossible at once.
Created by Annie Weisman, the series also features Rory Scovel, Murray Bartlett and Zooey Deschanel. Across three seasons it tracks a woman building a fitness empire on top of her own neurosis, and it never hides what that success costs.
