Synopsis
Interior Chinatown (2024) is a genre-bending comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. Willis Wu spends his days as scenery inside a slick cop show — Dead Guy, Delivery Guy, Background Guy Number Three — while quietly dreaming of being the Kung Fu Master.
Then he witnesses a crime in Chinatown, and the wallpaper starts talking back. Determined to break into the main plot, Willis runs his own investigation and pulls up buried family history, a vanished brother, and a neighborhood the camera usually pans straight past. Jimmy O. Yang plays a man literally fighting his way out of the extra's role, with Chloe Bennet, Ronny Chieng and Tzi Ma rounding out the cast.
Adapted from Charles Yu's National Book Award winner — Yu also ran the writers' room — the show keeps slipping between a real life and the studio set it's trapped inside, and Taika Waititi directed one of the episodes.
