About

Synopsis

Roar (1981) is a wild adventure laced with horror and pitch-black comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Naturalist Hank has spent years in a remote African estate sharing every room with dozens of lions, tigers, and leopards. When his wife and kids finally come to visit, a mix-up leaves the house empty of its owner and full of big cats.

What happens next is why the film became a legend. There were no trained stand-ins and no special effects: hundreds of real predators roamed the set and did exactly as they pleased. Tippi Hedren, her daughter Melanie Griffith, and director Noel Marshall, who plays Hank himself, essentially lived among the animals to capture it all.

The shoot dragged on for eleven years, and roughly seventy crew members were injured along the way, a fact the movie's own tagline admits outright. Marshall meant it as a love letter to wildlife and instead made the most dangerous production in Hollywood history. Stream Roar (1981) online on iFILM at least once, just to believe somebody actually filmed this.
