Synopsis

The other half lives in a poor southern village, where the men holding the boy slowly realize they are in over their heads. An escape collapses. Talks stall. And a severed ear becomes the bargaining chip nobody wanted to play.
Danny Boyle directs the early episodes at a jittery, near-documentary clip, and Donald Sutherland makes the miserly patriarch scarier than any of the criminals.
