Synopsis
Trust (2018) is an FX crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Across ten episodes it reopens the summer of 1973, when a teenage heir to an oil fortune vanished off a Roman street and the richest man alive refused to pay to get him back.
John Paul Getty III, played by Harris Dickinson, is living loose in Italy when Calabrian gangsters grab him and name their price in millions. His grandfather, the oil baron behind it all, treats a ransom demand like a hostile negotiation and suspects the boy faked his own abduction. Donald Sutherland turns the old man into a glacial miser who loves his ledgers more than his blood. Hilary Swank plays the mother fighting alone for her son while the family's men haggle over what he's worth, and Brendan Fraser is the Texan fixer sent to clean the mess up his own way.
Danny Boyle directed the opener, and his jittery, sardonic eye sets the register for the whole run — less a tidy reenactment than a poisoned portrait of money rotting a family from the inside. The same events fueled the feature All the Money in the World, but here they breathe, with sharper teeth and blacker comedy. Stream Trust (2018) online on iFILM.
