Synopsis
Klondike (2014), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. Three episodes of a fact-based historical western, this miniseries follows the last great gold rush into the Yukon, with Richard Madden leading the cast.
The year is 1897. Childhood friends Bill Haskell and Byron Epstein chase fortune to Dawson City, a boomtown thrown up overnight in untamed country where thousands of prospectors have flooded in. The wealth is real, and so is the cost. By October the cold closes in, food and supplies thin out, typhus spreads through the camps, and a killer is working the claims. Bill loses someone close, falls into debt to the shrewd businesswoman Belinda Mulrooney, and gets caught between revenge and a gold stake the broke aristocrat known as the Count is eyeing. Around them, the Tlingit watch their land torn apart.
Three parts play more like a long film split into chapters, and the brutal Yukon wilderness matters as much as any character. A strong bench — Abbie Cornish, Tim Roth, Sam Shepard — keeps it from sliding into a checklist of disasters. Stream Klondike Season 1 online on iFILM.
