Synopsis
The Saint (2017) is an action-adventure film directed by Ernie Barbarash — watch it online on iFILM. Adam Rayner plays Simon Templar, the international master thief known as The Saint, who is hired by a desperate wealthy man to track down his kidnapped daughter. The job turns personal when the trail leads back to someone from Templar's own past.
Eliza Dushku plays his partner in the field, Thomas Kretschmann is the antagonist, and both Roger Moore and James Remar appear in supporting roles — Moore in particular lending a knowing nod to his own history with the character. Templar's appeal has always been his ability to think faster than anyone in the room, and Rayner plays that quality well: disguise and improvisation over brute force.
The character first appeared in Leslie Charteris's novels in the 1920s, then became a TV staple with Roger Moore from 1962 to 1969, and reached the big screen with Val Kilmer in 1997. This version was originally developed as a television pilot before receiving a theatrical release. Fast, enjoyable, built for fans of clever rogues with complicated histories.
