Gintama: The Movie
Gintama Wasshoi Festival!!
Synopsis
Gintama: The Movie (2010) is a feature-length anime from director Shinji Takamatsu, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It reworks the Benizakura arc of the hit series, set in an alternate Edo-era Japan overrun by aliens.
Someone is cutting down swordsmen at night in the Kabuki district, and rumor ties the killings to Benizakura, a fabled blade. A brother and sister from a line of swordsmiths hire the Odd Jobs trio — Gintoki, Shinpachi and Kagura — to recover their late father's sword. When a wounded Katsura vanishes on a dark bridge, the trail leads to a blind assassin named Nizo and to Gintoki's buried samurai past.
This isn't a gentle entry point for newcomers; it's a redrawn "new translation" of one of the show's heaviest arcs, with sharper animation and fights built for the big screen. The trademark absurd comedy steps back and lets the blood and drama take over. Best for viewers who already know the series and want Benizakura at full scale. Stream Gintama: The Movie (2010) online on iFILM.
