Synopsis
Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2021) is a paranoid neo-noir thriller you can watch online on iFILM. It's late-nineties Chicago. James, a video archivist digitizing old television tapes, stumbles on fragments of pirate hijacks — moments when someone overrode the airwaves to broadcast a disturbing masked figure into living rooms.
The deeper he digs, the more the tapes tangle with his own grief over a missing wife. Harry Shum Jr. plays a man whose obsession slowly crowds out his sanity, chasing leads that point toward hardware, toward someone else's loss, and sometimes toward nothing at all. The tagline says "follow the tapes," but the film cares far more about the pull of the search than the payoff.
Director Jacob Gentry drew on real broadcast hijackings of the eighties, including Chicago's infamous Max Headroom incident. This is slow, dread-soaked analog horror built for fans of VHS static and dangling threads — viewers who need a clean resolution may find it deliberately evasive.
